Additional
auditions for violins and violas will be held September 12th.
Sorry, we cannot accept any more cellists or bassists. Please
contact Annette Brower for an appointment. String players in
grades 3-8 who study privately are eligible to
audition.
Students who would like to be accepted as a member of Prelude String Orchestra should be prepared to play the following:
Violin or Viola
solo piece from (or equivalent
to) Suzuki book 2
through book 4
sight read music in the keys of F, C, G, and D
2-octave scale in the key of student’s choice
Students
who would like
to be accepted as a member of Prelude Chamber Strings should be
prepared to play the following:
Violin
or Viola
solo
piece from (or equivalent to) Suzuki book 4 or up
sight
read music in the keys of E flat, B flat, F, C, G, D, and A
3-octave
scale in the key of student’s choice
1. A photocopy of your solo piece. It will not be returned to
you. You may use music or play from memory.
2. Play the scale from memory.
3. Bring your completed application. It must include all
requested signatures and information.
4. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your audition time to allow time
for tuning and warmup.
5. You will be contacted by e-mail within a week of your audition with
the results
Acceptance and Orchestra placement:
will be determined by the Conductor and Executive Director based on
technical
and musical proficiency demonstrated at the audition. Children in
grades 3-8 will be considered for both orchestras. Performing
a particular piece or scale does not guarantee placement in either
Prelude String Orchestra or Prelude Chamber Strings.

Tuition: $360
Concerts:
There
will be 3 formal performances. PCS will also perform at
Disneyland and in
a combined concert with the Pacific Symphony Santiago Strings. For information about the Pacific Symphony Santiago

Field Trip: November
14, 2009 (8:00 p.m.) at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa
Mesa. Tickets for orchestra members will be provided. You
must tell Annette by October 10th if you plan to attend. A ticket
will NOT be purchased for you if you do not call or sign up at
rehearsal. Sign up by Oct. 10th if you want to be a
chaperone. Chaperones will be chosen at random. Extra
tickets are available for $20/each. All seats are in the Grand
Tier.
